Tributes are being paid to a mental health nurse from Handsworth who died after contracting coronavirus.

Mother and grandmother, Dawn Marshall, was admitted to City Hospital on April 1 and sadly passed away two weeks later.

Dawn's daughter, Aliyah Stewart, 24, said her mother was "loved by all that knew her" and she had a smile that "could light up a room".

Dawn also leaves behind another daughter, Marie, and 7 grandchildren.

The Oldbury-based nurse had been having breathing difficulties since the end of March but was at first reluctant to go into hospital.

As her health got worse in hospital and she tested positive for coronavirus, Dawn, who was diabetic, asked staff not to put her in an induced coma.

Despite the best efforts of doctors and nurses, she died a few days later.

Her daughter Aliyah said: "She always had a smile on her face. She was loved by all that knew her. Everyone knew her and she was a big part of thecommunity."

"People would describe her as a loudmouth - but she was just well-loved.

"We as a family are devastated but she will always be a credit to usand her family."
