Face masks: How people are getting creative in the Midlands

People are now being advised to wear face coverings while at the shops or on public transport to help limit the spread of coronavirus.

Widespread shortages of medical-grade face masks have lead experts to agree that they should be reserved for healthcare providers.

Chief Medical Officer Professor Chris Whitty has urged the public not to buy surgical or medical masks, needed for frontline carers, but to use scarves or DIY-type masks instead.

T-shirts, socks and handkerchiefs are just some of the materials that are being used by people to make face coverings.
