Train named after Captain Tom Moore ahead of 100th birthday
A train has been named after war veteran Captain Tom Moore in honour of his fundraising efforts for the NHS.
Captain Moore, who celebrates his 100th birthday tomorrow, has raised more than £29m for NHS Charities Together by walking around his garden at his home.
The Great Western Railway (GWR) train will go into service on Captain Tom's birthday, operating on routes between Cheltenham Spa, Worcester and Hereford.
GWR said the train will carry key workers to and from work and was named after the 99-year-old after it was requested that he be recognised by the public.
