Member of hospital cleaning team with a 'heart of gold' lost to Coronavirus

A member of the cleaning team at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, described as having standards 'second to none,' has died from Coronavirus.

Eileen Landers passed away yesterday (26 April 2020) at Queen’s Hospital Burton from Covid-19.

She had worked at the Trust since 2004 and was a dedicated and popular member of the team.

Ms Landers grew up in County Tipperary, Ireland, and joined the NHS after moving to England in her twenties. Her sister Margaret paid tribute.

Ms Landers is the third colleague from University Hospitals of Derby and Burton to die with Covid-19 after the deaths of consultants Amged El-Hawrani and Manjeet Singh Riyat.

The Trust Chief Executive said,

A national minute's silence is being held tomorrow to remember all key workers who have lost their lives to the virus.
