Mental health nurse dies after contracting coronavirus

A community mental health nurse has died after contracting coronavirus.

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust confirmed the death ofGladys Mujajati, who worked to support local people through the Derby City Community Mental Health Team.

Colleagues described Gladys as a person with "a big heart" and said she was known to be a "warm and caring individual".

The 46-year-old lived in Littleover in Derby and had an underlying health condition. She stepped away from frontline duties in recent weeks.

The trust said: "We are aware that Gladys contracted COVID-19 before she sadly died in hospital earlier this week."

He added: “It is clear that in Gladys we have lost a fantastic nurse, colleague and friend.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with Gladys’ family, friends and colleagues. We ask that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.”
