School sew hundreds of material bags for NHS staff

A school in Birmingham is taking part in a sewing project to help NHS staff.

Pupils and staff at The Blue Coat School in Harborne are creating material laundry bags for local NHS staff to bring their uniforms home in after their shifts, and help to limit the spread of infection before they're then washed.

At the time of writing the school community - including parents, students, and current and retired staff - have cut out 220 bags, and 110 have been made and given to NHS staff.

They say that many parents with children at The Blue Coat school are NHS workers at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, or at other hospitals across the Midlands.

The school adds that they are "extremely proud of our school community" for their work in creating the bags.
