Birmingham councillors write plea to Matt Hancock over 'critical' PPE levels
The leader of Birmingham City Council, Ian Ward, Liam Byrne MP and Andrew Mitchell MP have written a joint letter to Health Secretary Matt Hancock over ‘desperately low’ PPE levels.
The trio say the supply of face masks in Birmingham will only last for another two weeks at the current rate, before calling the personal protective equipment situation ‘critical’.
Levels running low have been attributed to additional services such as schools, police and funeral care also needing the protective equipment.
The councillors have made themselves available for a meeting to discuss a solution to the ongoing issue.
