A devastated son recalls his dad's last moments in intensive care at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital before Covid-19 took his life.

58-year-old Haji Jamshed Siddiqui started suffering stomach pains and began self-isolating while relatives looked after his floristry business.

Unfortunately Mr Siddiqui's condition worsened, and he developed a cough, fever, and diarrhoea.

After ten days he was struggling to breathe or complete short sentences, and on 1st April he was taken to into hospital.

Sadly Mr Siddiqui, from Hodge Hill, Birmingham, died on Wednesday (April 8).

His son Hasnain said he took some comfort that he was able to be with his dad to hold his hand as he passed away.

31-year-old Hasnain said: "He was my mentor, my friend and someone who was always there to push me."

Hasnain said he and his brothers, Zain and Eshan, had inherited thebusiness gene from their father.

The siblings run Rio's Piri Piri restaurants in Hodge Hill and Alum Rock.
