Nottinghamshire nurse thanks police for catching bike criminals

A nurse who had her bicycle stolen whilst dealing with coronavirus at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, has thanked police for helping to catch the culprits.

On 26th March Karen Udtohan returned to where she had locked her boyfriend’s bicycle the night before to find it had been stolen.

Within hours of the theft being reported, Nottinghamshire Police released a CCTV appeal and two men were arrested shortly afterwards in connection with the burglaries.

Meanwhile, the force gave Karen a replacement bike from their own fleet, to make sure she could still get to work.

The bike had previously been used by neighbourhood policing teams across the county, but had become surplus to requirement.

David Moran, 35, of Courtleet Way, and Craig Lancaster, 29, of Camrose Close, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday 30 March where they pleaded guilty to the burglary of the hospital’s cycle storage unit.
