Loughborough business aims to make thousands of free visors for NHS
A business in Loughborough is aiming to produce thousands of visors for NHS frontline workers, free of charge.
Darren Botteril owns a company called Smashguard Window Film, which has been running since 2005.
After the Government's announcement telling people to stay at home, he had to postpone a lot of planned work and found himself wanting to do something with the materials he had to help the NHS.
So he and his wife Melissa learnt how to make visors with their equipment, which will be given to front line workers to use in the fight against coronavirus.
After posting on Facebook, within 48 hours, they received orders for over 30,000 across the UK.
The couple have now set up a website, using the hashtag 'make the visor', to encourage other companies in the region to get involved and 'do their bit' to support the health system.
Earlier this week, they put another appeal out on social media, this time asking parents if their children would like to put their own special message on a visor.
The couple hope it will help to boost the spirits of NHS workers during the crisis.
