Hotels in Worcestershire help in the fight against coronavirus

Hotels across Worcestershire are now fully booked, after many have come forward to offer extra rooms for recovering patients during the coronavirus outbreak.

The news comes 48 hours after Worcestershire County Council appealed for hotels across the county to offer 150 rooms for people who are now well enough to leave hospital but still need assessment for social care.

The council originally needed 300 rooms in total, but half of this number – 150 rooms – had already been booked.

Worcestershire County Council had already secured Stourport Manor and Cadmore Lakeside to offer this service at the time of the appeal, but since then more hotels have come forward to show their support.

The council says the rooms will prove "vital in ensuring our residents receive the help and support they need during these testing times" and that personal care will be arranged if needed.
