Seven people in the Midlands have died from coronavirus over the weekend, NHS England has announced.
The victims include a woman in her 60s, who was being treated for underlying health conditions in Wolverhampton, and a woman in her 70s who was in Nuneaton.
A man in his 90s has also died at a hospital in Nottingham, and a patient in their 80s has died in Dudley.
Yesterday it was revealed that three men - all in their 80s and with ongoing health problems - had also died.It means that over the weekend, seven people in the Midlands have now died from COVID-19.
Dr Catherine Free, medical director at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, said: "Sadly we can confirm that a woman who was being cared for at George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton, and had tested positive for Covid-19, has died.
"The patient, who died on March 13, was in her 70s and had underlying health conditions. Her family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust have all published statements confirming that patients in their care are among the 14 people who have died since yesterday.
Yesterday, 10 patients died in the country including one man in Leicester, one man in Wolverhampton and one man in Sandwell. The total number of people in the UK who have died from COVID-19 is now 35.
