Abandoned dog left to drown in weighted suitcase, say RSPCA
A dog is believed to have been locked in a suitcase which was then weighed down with bricks and thrown into a lake in Northamptonshire.
The RSCPA believe 8-year-old Alexis, a Cane Corso Italian Mastiff, was left to die in a lake in Corby sometime before 6am on Thursday (Feb 27).
A local resident found her in poor health on a playing field in Pen Green Lane.
The RSPCA sent out a warden who found a red suitcase with bricks just 30 metres from where she was found.
Alexis was found to be severely underweight - she had a large tumour, arthritis and a chest infection. Vets found she had been microchipped and are now trying to find the address she was registered at.
Alexis is currently recovering from her ordeal at the RSPCA’s Newbrook Animal Hospital.
The RSPCA are appealing for information to find the person responsible.
