Number of roads still closed after flooding across Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire

A number of main roads remained closed on Tuesday after widespread flooding hit the region.

There were two severe flood warnings for the River Severn in Shropshire - one at Ironbridge and one at Shrewsbury - while dozens of lower-level flood warnings and alerts have been issued for the rivers Severn, Wye and Teme.

And standing water has forced a number of roads throughout Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire to remain closed.

The roads affected are:

SHROPSHIRE

  • A458 Smithfield Road in both directions closed due to flooding between A528 Chester Street and A5191 / Mardol Quay / Welsh Bridge.

  • A5191 Wyle Cop in both directions closed due to flooding between St Julians Crescent and Wyle Cop.

In addition, the council has closed the following smaller roads:

  • The Wharfage

  • Buildwas Road

  • Ferry Road

  • Coalford

  • Dale End

  • Paradise

  • The Lloyds

  • Ironbridge Road

  • Madeley Road from Hill Top

  • Church Hill

  • Waterloo Street

  • The Free Bridge

WORCESTERSHIRE

  • A443 Hylton Road in both directions closed due to flooding between B4206 Henwick Road and A44 Tybridge Street.

HEREFORDSHIRE

  • A528 Coton Hill / Chester Street in both directions blocked due to flooding between B5067 Berwick Road and A5191 Castle Foregate.

  • A438 in both directions closed due to flooding from A4111 (Willersley) to Letton (Letton).

  • A4110 in both directions closed due to flooding between B4457 and A44.

  • A4110 in both directions closed due to flooding from B4530 (Adforton) to A4113 (Leintwardine).

  • A4113 in both directions closed due to flooding between Rosemary Lane (Leintwardine) and B4530 (Walford).
