Increase in racism towards Chinese community as fears over coronavirus grow

The Chinese community in Birmingham has reported a rise in abuse since the outbreak of coronavirus.

City Councillor Alex Yip says he has received dozens of calls and emails from alleged victims.

He says it’s understandable that people are worried about the virus but it’s unacceptable for that fear to turn in to racial abuse.

The Chinese community in Birmingham is condemning the recent abuse and urging others who have been victims to report it.
