Murder investigation launched after man's body found in an allotment

A murder investigation has been launched after a man's body was found in an allotment in Derbyshire.

Officers were called to an allotment off Prospect Drive in Shirebrook at around 10am on Sunday (26 January).

On arrival they discovered a man and he was pronounced dead.

He had suffered injuries that would suggest that he had been assaulted.

A post mortem examination of the body took place this afternoon (27 January).

A formal identification has not yet taken place and enquiries are ongoing to identify the man’s family.
