HS2 to make "a couple of hundred" redundancies

ITV News Central's business correspondent, Mark Gough, has been speaking to HS2, who have confirmed that they will be making people redundant.

HS2 haven't given an exact number, but told ITV News Central that it will be "a couple of hundred" redundancies.

The reason they couldn't be exact was because the number of redundancies could change, as the process of getting the business ready for the construction phase takes place.

HS2 claim that the redundancies are unrelated to the Oakervee Review and that it is "standard practice for infrastructure delivery", as they move from the preparatory phase into the construction phase of the project.
