Police officer taken to hospital with serious leg injury following collision
An investigation has been launched after a Staffordshire police officer was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury in Stoke-on-Trent last night (16 January).
The officer was involved in a collision at around 6.30pm on The Strand in Longton.
A red Ford Fiesta, believed to be stolen, failed to stop for officers.
The car mounted the pavement and was in collision with a police car, a Vauxhall Insignia.
The Ford Fiesta was later found abandoned on nearby Driffield Close.
The officer was taken to hospital with a serious fracture to his left leg, but has since been discharged.
The force are said to be supporting him with his recovery and welfare.
