Human bones discovered at a site in Melton Mowbray found to date back to the 7th century
Human bones discovered at a site in Melton Mowbray last October have been found to date back to the 7th century.
Police were called to a site off Scalford Road at around Thursday 17 October 2019 following a report that human remains had been found in the ground at a construction site.
Enquiries and specialist forensic examination were carried out to determine how long the bones had been underground.
Now, Carbon dating has dated the bones to 635-685 AD.
The ancient remains are now going to Cotswold Archaeology Ltd for further research to be carried out into the finding.
