Man dies after fire breaks out at house in Derby

A man has died after a fire broke out at a house in Derby.

Emergency services were called to the property in Rose Hill Street in Normanton at 2.10pm on Boxing Day. (26 December).

On arrival they discovered the body of a man inside the property.

Police say the road will remain closed throughout the night and into tomorrow (28 December) morning.

They are advising people to avoid the area and take alternative routes where possible.

An investigation is now underway to establish the cause of the fire.

Formal identification is still to take place.

Officers are appealing for information from anyone who may have been in the area between 11am and 1.45pm this afternoon.
