(Christmas) light at the end of the tunnel for 7-year-old Evie
A brave little girl who has fought leukaemia twice has switched on the lights to kick off Melton Mowbray's annual Christmas Tree Festival.
The event takes place in St Marys Church and is the largest Christmas Tree Festival in the country. Over 220 organisations are taking part and around 1300 magical trees will be on display from the 29th November until the 3rd December.
Evie was only 3-years-old when she was first diagnosed with leukaemia. She was in remission when a more aggressive form of the cancer returned in February 2018. Her life was saved by an anonymous donor from Germany which allowed her to have the bone marrow treatment that she needed.
The festival is running at St Marys Parish Church in Melton Mowbray from the 20th November until 4th December.
