Remembrance Day: Injured officer gives police cars poppies

The police officer who was critically injured after being run over by a car thief has arranged for colleagues’ patrol cars to be given poppies for Remembrance Day.

For the second year running PC Gareth Phillips has secured 100 poppies to go on the marked cars of his fellow Central Motorway Police Group officers.

PC Phillips volunteered to arrange for the commemorative stickers, which were supplied free of charge by a local sign company in Aston, Birmingham.

Supt Dave Twyford, head of roads policing in the West Midlands, said: “It’s something that it’s important to him and the department, and Gaz is keen to help out where he can while he’s still recovering."
