'Crazy' motorist transports large red sofa in the back of seat of a convertible
A 'crazy' motorist left other road users confused after they transported a large sofa in the back seat of a convertible.
The Volkswagen Eos was seen travelling along the A611 just outside Hucknall, Nottinghamshire.
Amanda Garthwaite spotted the red furniture and thought it couldn't be considered a 'safe driving situation'.
The 42-year-old export administrator said she noticed the load didn't seem to be 'strapped in or secured in any way'.
Transporting furniture in a car can lead to a driver being charged with a serious motoring offence, such as dangerous driving, for example, if the item was not strapped down.
Section 2 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 states that “a person is... to be regarded as driving dangerously... if it would be obvious to a competent and careful driver that driving the vehicle in its current state would be dangerous".
