Hedgehog put down after he was set alight

A hedgehog was found struggling in a garden after it had been set on fire in Bramcote, Nottingham.

A woman noticed the hedgehog which appeared in pain in her garden and took him to Ashfield House Veterinary Hospital.

The vet, Charlotte Harris could see the hedgehog had burn injuries and could smell petrol on him leading her to believe that he was deliberately set on fire.

Sadly the team decided the kindest thing to do was to put the hedgehog to sleep.

She also alerted the RSPCA to the incident.
