Man charged over alleged hit-and-run in Walsall which killed woman

A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following an alleged hit-and-run in Walsall, in which a woman was killed.

Lewis Jukes was arrested yesterday (16 September) on suspicion of driving a Peugeot 206 that struck Kulvinder Kaur in Cavendish Road, Beechdale, shortly after 1pm on 12 September.

Emergency services rushed the scene but sadly, Mrs Kaur, aged 52, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 20-year-old, from High Street, Brownhills, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, failing to report a collision and driving without insurance.

He was also charged with stealing a Vauxhall Astra from the Wolverhampton area earlier this month.

Jukes is appearing at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning (17 September).
