Mugger 'flung' 72-year-old victim to the ground for her handbag in broad daylight

A 72-year-old woman suffered a fractured shoulder after being 'flung to the ground' for her handbag in Handsworth, Birmingham.

CCTV footage captured from a nearby house shows the pensioner being followed by the mugger, who was wearing a black hoodie, along Stafford Road.

He lunged for her bag, pulled it from her and dragged her to the ground just after 11am on Tuesday, 30 July.

He then quickly ran from the scene with the woman's cash, bank cards, house keys and a mobile phone.

West Midlands Police have issued an urgent appeal to find the thief, who is thought to have then discarded the stolen items into a wheelie bin.
