Schoolchildren making a town the first 'Makaton friendly' in the Midlands
Staff and pupils at a special school in Alfreton in Derbyshire regularly use Makaton - a form of sign language. Now, they're on a mission to get it used more widely in the community.
Their aim is to turn Alfreton into the first Makaton friendly town in the Midlands.
The school is offering training to anyone who's interested. Ten local shops and organisations have signed up, and when that reaches 30, Alfreton will become the first Makaton friendly town in the Midlands, and only the third in the country.
