Police officer in hospital with serious injuries after crash in Birmingham
A police officer is in hospital with serious injuries after being involved in a crash with a car in Birmingham that was being pursued by his police colleagues after it failed to stop for them.
Traffic officers tried to stop a Range Rover Discovery that was being driven erratically on Wood End Road in Erdington at around 4:10am.
After a brief pursuit, the car crashed with a passing police car that was not involved in the pursuit.
The officer has pelvic, leg and shoulder injuries and is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
A 37-year-old-man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
