An assisted travel lounge has opened at Birmingham New Street Station.

It’s a £175,000 investment as part of Britain’s Railway Upgrade Plan and will provide a waiting space for people with additional travel needs.

The new waiting space can be found in the Birmingham New Street Red Lounge in the place of the former Virgin first class travel lounge.

To make it easily accessible, the lounge door will always be open, with bright multi coloured signs (during opening hours) to aid the visually impaired. There is also a water bowl for service dogs.
