Beautiful, blossoming bluebells! Stunning photo taken in Clent Hills mirrors work of famous French painter

A photo of blossoming bluebells in the Clent Hills has drawn comparisons with the work of a famous 19th century painter.

The image, captured by a photographer on Monday (29th April), was taken with a softer focus and appears slightly washed out.

As a result, it bears a striking resemblance to the paintings of French impressionist, Claude Monet.

Born in Paris in 1840, he specialised in paintings inspired from landscapes and nature.

Bluebells usually flower from mid-April to late May, meaning the extraordinary display was captured a little earlier than usual.

They are relatively rare in the rest of the world, with almost half of them round in the UK.

They are a protected species, meaning it is against the law to intentionally pick or uproot them.
