Residents protest over plans to overhaul road
Controversial plans to overhaul the road network through Perry Barr in Birmingham have sparked protests by residents.
As part of its long-term masterplan for the area, the city council wants to introduce SPRINT buses and turning either the hard shoulder, or one of the existing lanes, into a dedicated bus lane along the A34.
They say it will help encourage people to use public transport.
A public consultation was held last year - but many people say they weren't aware of the plans until too late.
The A34 Safety Action Group was formed by Walsall Road resident Annette Pereira to fight the proposals.
She said the hard shoulder is used as parking outside houses along the busy stretch of road, and is vital to accommodate visitors and carers for elderly and disabled people.
