A Birmingham City fan has been charged with assault after invading the pitch during yesterday's Second City derby.

Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish was hit from behind after a man wearing a Birmingham City jacket ran onto the pitch 10 minutes into Villa's clash with Birmingham City.

Paul Mitchell, a 27-year-old from Rubery, has now been charged with invading the pitch and assault and is due at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning (Mon).

Grealish went on to score in the second half, securing Aston Villa's one nil victory.
