Home Office to consider more funding for Madeleine McCann search

Detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have applied for more funding to continue with the search.

The Home Office has confirmed it is considering an application from the Metropolitan Police for more money for 'Operation Grange' until the end of March 2020.

The cost of Operation Grange, to date, is £11.75m. It has been met through Special Grant funding.

Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry McCann, of Rothley, Leicestershire, have vowed never to give up hope of finding their daughter.

Madeleine was three years old when she went missing from the family's holiday apartment in Portugal's Algarve on May 3 2007.

In 2011 the Met Police launched its own investigation into what had happened to the toddler.
