A mural of Claudio Ranieri in Leicester has been taken down

A mural of former Leicester city manager Claudio Ranieri, who guided his team win the Premier League in 2016, has been taken down - much to the disappointment of countless residents and football fans.

The painting adorned a wall which thousands of people drove or walked past everyday.

The mural depicted Ranieri as Julius Caeser above the latin phrase Veni, Vidi, Vici meaning, I came, I saw, I conquered.

It was painted onto a giant sheet which has been carefully removed and has been put into storage.

The managing director of the restaurant has said it was taken down because the paint was starting to peel.

They are now looking for a new home for it.
