The school dog helping students with mental well-being

The newest member at a school in Kidderminster is having a powerful impact on students' emotional well-being.

Fern the dog joined Holy Trinity School and Sixth Form Centre when she was just three months old and has now been at the school for four months.

She has been interacting with children from 5-18 years old.

The Headteacher says, Fern has had a powerful impact on the students:

The school say introducing a dog into the school is helping to tackle the increasing concerns over mental health and the levels of stress that young people encounter in the education system.

Once fully trained, Fern will be used to support the school’s well-being programme and will work alongside the school counsellor to promote student confidence and independence.
