Mum with one year to live writes enough birthday cards for five-year-old daughter to last until she is 40

A mum who has just one year to live has written birthday cards and letters for her five-year-old daughter, to be delivered up until her 40th birthday

Lene Pearce, who has Motor Neurone Disease, was told in September this Christmas would be her last.

She took it upon herself to write enough birthday cards for her daughter, Lexi-Ann Pearce, to last her up to the year 2053.

The Nottingham mum has even written out a card for Lexi-Ann's future wedding, if she choses to get married.

Miss Pearce said she had a nurse at Nottinghamshire Hospice write the cards for her, having lost mobility in her arms and legs, but she managed to personally sign every card with the word 'Mummy x'.

In the cards for Lexi-Ann's 18th and 21st birthdays, she has put in a picture of herself at that age for her daughter to see and remember her by.
