Bonobo 'Winton' dies at Twycross Zoo
Twycross Zoo has announced the death of one of their Bonobos.
In a series of tweets the zoo confirmed 'Winton' passed away yesterday (December 23).
He was born at the zoo in 2010 to his parents Cheka and Keke.
Winton has been described as a playful, cheeky and loveable member of the group and a much admired big brother.
A statement read: "A full post mortem is underway, but at this stage he is believed to have died from a respiratory outbreak that has affected our Bonobo group.
"Our highly trained keepers and vets continue to monitor the group."
