  • At 112 years old, Grace Jones is the UK's oldest living person

  • Blessed with a remarkable memory - she recalls the flags and music in the streets and the endless supply of sweets as the end of war was declared.

There are no longer any surviving veterans of the First World War and only a handful of civilians who can remember it.

One of those is Grace Jones, who at 112 is Britain's oldest living person.

She was a young girl in Liverpool when the fighting stopped, but she now lives at Broadway in Worcestershire.

But there was sadness too.

She had a brother called Thomas, who planned to emigrate to Australia with his wife - but he died in the war, and never even got married.
