Pedestrian killed after being struck by traffic on M5

A man in his 50s has died after being hit by traffic on the M5 near Frankley Services.

The motorway was closed for a number of hours between junctions 3 and 4 in Worcestershire following the incident which occurred between 1.45am and 2am this morning (Saturday, November 3).

West Mercia Police said the man, who had been on foot, was struck by oncoming traffic and died as a result of his injuries.

The force said the man was on the carriageway "for reasons yet to be established".

Appealing for witnesses, Inspector Russ Barker said: "The M5 is a central route for people travelling across the country and we're keen to speak to anyone who was on the stretch of the motorway between junction 3 and 4 near to Frankley Services."
