"I am in danger if I'm deported to Afghanistan"
A man who has lived in the Midlands for nearly a decade after fleeing war in Afghanistan as a 14-year-old child refugee says if he's deported his life will be in danger.
Nas Popalzai went to school and college in Birmingham, and converted to Christianity.
The government has denied him permission to stay - despite his fears that he would be persecuted, and possibly killed, if he is sent back.
Nas was raised in the village of Tezak and the sound of fighting was always close by.
His father was kidnapped for refusing to join the Taliban's forces. His brother and sister were killed.
Fearing for his life, his mother paid a trafficker to help her son escape. But she had to stay.
Two years ago, he was baptised at the New Life church in Kings Heath in Birmingham.
He says they became his new family - and they're now supporting him as he appeals to the Home Office to let him stay.
The Home Office said they would not comment on an ongoing case.
They have invited Nas to a meeting on Friday.
