Hundreds attend funeral of war veteran after online appeal
More than 300 people have attended the funeral of a war veteran from Shropshire after a social media appeal for mourners was shared online.
Former Royal Marine, David McLaren Keer, who was 90, passed away at a nursing home in September.
He had outlived his only living family.
David McLaren Keer was born in Edinburgh and joined the Royal Marines in 1946, aged just 19.
He was in the service for 22 years before later retraining as a psychiatric nurse.
He outlived both his wife, Nancy, and daughter, Maryanne, who passed away from cancer in 2013.
David McLaren Keer's funeral took place at Emstrey Crematorium in Shrewsbury.
The hymns sung were the same ones McLaren Keer selected for his wife's funeral.
