A businessman has told ITV News how he was conned out of £9,000 in a sophisticated online banking scam.

The scammers first sent Rod Owens a text which looked like it was from his bank.

They knew he banked with Santander and even generated their own one-time passcode which they used to access his online account.

They then disabled his mobile phone so his bank couldn't get in touch with him.

Now Rod wants banks and mobile phone companies to tighten their security.
