School term dates to align in Leicester and Leicestershire

School term dates for Leicester and Leicestershire will align next year.

Parents were asked to give their views as to whether term times should be the same for the city and the county.

80% of respondents said they wanted term dates in the two neighbouring authorities to match.

This year, county schools will be on holiday from 15-19 October, while city schools have their half-term break from 22-26 October.

For the 2019/20 academic year, the City Council and the County Council will ensure school holidays take place at the same time.

However, academies are able to set their own dates independently from the council.
