A teenager has been charged with assault after a traffic warden was attacked in Alum Rock in Birmingham on Friday (September 14).

Danyal Bashir, 19, of Hartopp Road, has been bailed to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on October 16.

Another 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and released while the investigation continues.

The warden was attacked on Hartopp Road at the corner with College Road just after 5pm last Friday.

Detective Inspector Jim Church, who is leading the investigation, said the victim was taken to hospital but did not suffer any serious physical injuries.
