Man pleads guilty to stabbing police dog

A man has pleaded guilty to stabbing an on-duty police dog in Derbyshire. PD Axle was attacked while Derbyshire Police officers attended a domestic incident on High Street in Riddings on July 5th.

PD Axle was stabbed three times in the attack by Matthew Stretch, who's 28 and from Keyworth in Nottinghamshire. He was charged with a number of offences including:

  • threatening with a blade

  • two counts of threats to kill against two police officers

  • two counts of criminal damage - one pertaining to a police dog and one to a police vehicle

  • assault and breach of a restraining order

Stretch pleaded guilty to all six charges and is due to be sentenced on the 4th of October at Derby Crown Court.

PD Axle has now recovered from his injuries and is back on duty, much to the delight of his social media fans.
