'You'll be a murderer or end up dead': Family's plea after Specials singer's grandson stabbed
The Specials singer Neville Staple has urged people to come forward with information after his grandson was stabbed to death.
Fidel Glasgow died outside a nightclub in Coventry on September 1st, and police are still hunting for his killer.
Today (Weds), Neville Staple and Fidel's family have issued a desperate plea for information.
The 21-year-old was found outside Club M in the early hours of Saturday. He was rushed to hospital but died shortly after.
At a press conference today, Neville's wife, Christine Sugary, pleaded for people to put down their knives, insisting that carrying one would only end in tragic consequences.
She said: "You're going to end up being a murderer or you're going to be a victim or going to end up dead. It's just not worth it. If you're going to a place you feel you can only go to if you're carrying a knife then don't go. Stay home."
The Police and Crime Commissioner has recently pledged £2 million to help tackle knife crime in the region.
But Christine Sugary claimed there needed to be more transparency as to how that money was spent, adding: "We need to see where that money is going. I cannot see it in the local communities. Kids are still on the street, hanging out. Let's see the money used there on that front line."
A 23-year-old man who was also attacked on the night remains in a stable condition in hospital.
Atikou Diallo, 23, has been charged in connection with the disorder but police say they are still searching for Fidel's killer.
