Cancer survivor prepares to cycle 500km from London to Paris

A young woman from Birmingham is preparing to cycle from London to Paris, just six months after going into remission from blood cancer.

Jenna Ostrowski's dentist noticed a gum infection and swelling in her glands and advised her to get a blood test, but her GP couldn't fit her in for two and half weeks.

The 34-year-old corporate lawyer used her private healthcare to get tested the next day - and 24 hours later she and her boyfriend Matt got a call to say she had Advanced Myeloid Leukaemia.

Jenna is now in remission but will undergo regular bone-marrow biopsies for the next three years.

The couple say there needs to be more awareness over the symptoms of leukaemia, which include, extreme fatigue, severe bruising and persistent infections.
