Hunt for murderer who absconded from prison

Police are hunting for a convicted killer with a "born to raise hell" tattoo on his neck, after he absconded from prison.

John Potter was given a life sentence at Newcastle Crown Court in 2008 for murder, Derbyshire Police have said.

In a statement, the force confirmed that the 52-year-old has absconded from HMP Sudbury in Derbyshire.

He is said to have several tattoos, including pictures of a swallow, a devil, and the word 'Debbie' on his neck, as well as a "distinctive" panther on his right hand.

Derbyshire Police described him as a "white, bald, clean shaven male with blue eyes", adding that his last known address is in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
