A coroner has agreed to resume an inquest into the death of a woman who was killed by a convicted sex offender.

Lisa Skidmore, 37, was raped and murdered in her bedroom in Bilston on November 24 last year.

Leroy Campbell had been released from prison just four months earlier, having been locked-up for 17 years for burglary and indecent assault.

The 56-year-old used a ladder to climb into Lisa's bedroom. Police believe he spent at least three days planning the brutal attack.

Once inside, he raped and strangled her to death.

He then attacked her mother, before setting the house on fire.

The Ministry of Justice has apologised for failings in this case, and said that the probation service and the police has strengthened the way it works together as a direct result of what happened.

Now the coroner has confirmed that he will resume an inquest into the circumstances in which Lisa died.

Her family hope this will will give them the answers they need.
