100-year-old woman dies after handbag robbery
A 100-year-old woman who suffered a broken neck after she was knocked over and robbed of her handbag has died.
Zofija Kaczan was attacked close to the junction of St Chads Road and Empress Road in Normanton, Derby, on the morning of Monday, May 28th.
She managed to make her way to her local church, where she was helped other churchgoers, before being taken to hospital.
She suffered multiple injuries, including a broken neck, as a result of the robbery.
Mrs Kaczan was initially released from her hospital into a rehabilitation ward, but her condition later deteriorated.
Her handbag was found at the junction of Moore Street and Normanton Road.
A beige Seat Leon which was seen close to where the attack happened.
The car was found abandoned two days later in a car park in Jackson Street, Stockbrook in Derby.
A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery on Monday, June 4th, and released under investigation yesterday.
